Full Review
After years of reviewing high capacity power banks, I’ve accumulated enough to fill up two shoe boxes. Of the dozens of units, only a few of them ever get used. The criteria for cherry-picking my favourites usually come down to just two factors – the physical size of the power bank and how efficient it is. Those two factors are the reason I was eager to get my hands on the Tronsmart PB20.
Size Matters
For a 20000mAh Power Bank, the PB20 is amazingly compact. I’d go as far as to say it’s pocket-size. Just take a look at it alongside some other portable chargers with exactly the same output.
As you can see, the Tronsmart PB20 power bank is significantly more compact. Along with the reduced size, the PB20 has generously rounded edges and corners to make it extremely comfortable to carry on your person.
Here is another comparison view from the front. It’s so much smaller than the others that I was sure it would fall short on the number of full phone charges it provided.

Tronsmart PB20 Power Bank – Design & Build Quality
The PB20 feels extremely robust and the ABS plastic housing seems very resistant to surface scratches. It has a matte black finish with a subtle hatched texture on the underside.
There is a singular button neatly recessed on the right-side that will light up the digital display when pressed. Unlike most other power banks which use four LED lights to show the battery life in 25% increments, the PB20 gives accuracy to the nearest 1%. This comes in very useful when using a high capacity portable charger.
Alongside the digital display, there is a micro USB input and a standard USB-A output port. All the ports are tight-fitting and cables insert snuggly inside. I have absolutely no complaints regarding the overall build quality of this power bank.
Tronsmart PB20 Power Bank – Features and Specifications
20000mAh | Micro USB / Type C USB | 1X USB A (max 3.0A) Type-C USB (max 3.0A) | 6 Hours | 137mm x 68.5mm x 26mm | 342g |
Safety Features
The Tronsmart PB20 has multi-protection measures to protect it and your devices from, over-charge, over-current, short circuits, and over-discharge issues.
Dual Charging
By using the Micro USB and the Type-C ports, the PB20 power bank can be fast-charged using two cables at the same time.
The Type-C USB port can also be used together with the USB-A output to charge two devices simultaneously. It’s limited to a total output of 3A, which will be adequate for charging two phones. If, however, a tablet or iPad is charging alongside a phone, it’s going to take a little longer.
Performance and Efficiency
I got just under 5 full charges of my Samsung S7 Edge phone. Yes, I know it’s old, but it serves me well, and the 3600mAh battery is still bigger than most other flagship phones. Now, with a little math (4.9x3600mAh=17,640mAH) this means I achieved an efficiency of 88.2%. This is almost exactly what Tronsmart suggest their PB20 power bank can achieve and is at the very top end of what you’re going to get from any other portable charger on the market.
– If your an iPhone 8 owner, you’ll easily get over 6 full phone charges for this Power Bank.
Verdict
I really like this power bank for two main reasons – its size and its charging efficiency. The Tronsmart PB20 is great value for money and ideal for anyone looking for an ultra-compact high-capacity charger to keep a smartphone topped up for extended periods.
That said, if you need to charge multiple larger devices such as tablets, iPads or a MacBook Pro, then this power bank probably isn’t ideal for your needs. You’ll need one with a larger maximum output. You can easily find a suitable one on our list of the Best 20000mAH power banks. – Side Note: The Tronsmart PB20 will most definitely feature on it in the very near future!

Hi Simon Just read your reviews on the Tronsmart T6 Bluetooth speaker,
And have now just read your review on the Tronsmart pb20 and was wondering if you used the PB to charge the speaker if so is it worth purchasing for this purpose amongst other uses. By the way I have just purchased the Speaker, just on your review which I thought was excellent.
Hi Alex, The PB20 Power bank is really great, I took it on holiday with me along with another 20000mAh charger, it definitely outperformed the other one. The T6 speaker is a cool speaker for the price, I’m sure you’ll be pleased, Trosmart makes some really nice products at good prices, I also use their Bluetooth neckband headphones, they have been awesome. Have a great day 🙂
