A hands-on review of the New Ace Series RAVPower Power Bank. Featuring their updated iSmart 2.0 voltage adjusting technology to fast charge multiple mobile devices.
Currently 3rd place on our Best Power Bank 20000mAh list
RAVPower’s latest Power Bank offers the biggest Max Output of any portable phone charger on the market. With some high capacity external batteries putting out just 3.1A, the RP-PB052 provides almost double the amount.

1Full Review – Intro
These days I’m hugely selective when it comes to reviewing portable chargers. If there’s no noteworthy new feature or design to interest me, I’m quick to pass on the opportunity. Fortunately, RAVPower has managed to raise the bar with their latest Ace Series high capacity Power Bank.
2Design and Build
Over the years, the typical design of a portable power bank has changed from a wide box shape, to more of a stretched bar of soap. This has been a clever evolution in terms of practicality, there’s no place for sharp edges on portable devices. Every edge and corner on the RAVPower Ace series is rounded and smooth to touch.
Size and Weight
Its size and weight is certainly on the lower end of the scale when compared to other high capacity power banks. This is likely due to the choice of material used in its construction. Its shell is made from the same UL94 V-0 fire-resistant thermoplastic used by Mercedes-Benz and BMW.
162mm (6.5 Inches) | 70mm (2.7 Inches) | 21mm (0.7 Inches) | 415g (14.6oz) |
The Ace Series power bank comes with two anti-tangle USB cables and soft carry pouch. I know I’ve mentioned this before, but RAVPower offers the best carry pouches in the business. The branded high-quality charging cables are also great additions to the product.
These days I really try and nitpick on the small things when reviewing a product. On this occasion, I can’t think of a single thing to moan about. The build quality is great and probably the reason why RAVPower have slipped a lifetime warranty card in the box.
3Features and Spec
The Ace Series RP-PB052 power bank has improved high-density Li-Polymer batteries. The same cells used by Microsoft, Lenovo, Huawei, and Motorola. These provide exceptional efficiency rates of up to 80% and a 500 charge lifespan. If you were to recharge this power bank once a fortnight, it could last you a whopping 20 years.
22000mAh | iSmart 2.0 | DC 5V/2.4A Max | 2.4A Max | DC 5V/5.8A |
The 22000mAh capacity will provide roughly nine full phone charges (based on an iPhone 6). This could potentially get you through two weeks without access to a mains power source.
The new and improved iSmart 2.0 works by adjusting the current and voltage during charging. The technology is able to balance the charge to each connected mobile device to ensure the optimal speed from each USB port.
These ports are backed up by ten different protection measures. There’s protection against high temperatures, short circuits, surges and over charging.
The stand-out feature for me has to be its huge Max output. As far as I’m aware it’s the largest of any portable phone charger on the market. This won’t be of any real benefit if you’ve little need to charge more than one device. However, For those that have multiple mobile devices, it’s extremely useful.
I was amazed to see the RP-PB052 was able to charge both my boys Fire HD Tablets faster than they could deplete them. Just what I needed to keep them quiet on the back seat of the car.
4Verdict
The New Ace Series RAVPower Power Bank is set to fly straight to the top of our Best 20000mAh Power Banks of 2017 List. Its high capacity, huge output, and solid build quality makes this portable charger amazingly good value for money.

thanks for the review I needed a big power bank and this looks perfect! cheap too!
Useful power bank review, I need a portable charger with over 5.5A max output to charge 2 phones and a tablet at the same time. Looks like the Ravpower charger is perfect for the job. What’s the efficiency like, out of the 22000mAh what am I realistically going to get?
thank you for the review, I plan on buying this Power Bank over the Anker PowerCore, it’s a bit cheaper and I definitely like the look of the carry bag
You won’t be disappointed Charles, it’s an awesome high capacity power bank. By the way, if you have a mobile phone with Quick Charge technology on it, check out the RAVPower RP-PB043 (It’s 3rd on my list of the best power banks) it’s another awesome portable charger and perfect for QC3.0 devices.
