The most durable and rugged portable charger available and one of the only few power banks with pass through charging.

Zendure A8 QC 3.0 Power Bank  – Design

The Zendure A8  is made from a strong composite material. It’s beveled edges and ribbed surfaces have been designed to withstand forces and absorb shock. Measuring  4.7 x 2.9 x 1.6 inches and weighing 1.1 pounds (500grams) the Zendure A8 Pro could be considered fairly chunky. The capacity vs weight ratio, however, is actually pretty impressive when compared to other high capacity power banks.

With the exception of a small round button nestled inside the ribs on the front face, everything else is neatly positioned on the top. This distributes the weight slightly more to the bottom, allowing the power bank to comfortably sit upright while charging.

There is genuinely high build quality and level of detail to this power bank leaving you with no doubts that this is a premium product.

Zendure A8 QC 3.0 Power Bank  – Features

There are certain features that you really want to see on high capacity power banks and Zendure A8 Pro has them all. Firstly any battery pack with a capacity of over 20000mAh needs to have more than 2 outputs. Many chargers will have 3, the A8  has four! Each port is capable of identifying the maximum charge rate of the attached device. It will then safely adapt it’s output to speed up the charging time.

Most other portable battery packs will have 4 indicator lights that show the remaining charge in 25% increments.  This works well on relatively small capacity power banks, but when you have a capacity of 20000mAh or more, 25% could be as many as 3 full phone charges. The Zendure’s LED display gives you a far more accurate way of keeping track or current charge.

The Zendure A8 pro features 4 USB charging ports and a digital displayThe most impressive feature by far is it’s ‘pass through’ technology, which I think is pretty damn essential on a high capacity power bank. A battery of this size will take a considerable time to fully recharge. Being able to plug all your other devices into the Zendure A8 while it’s charging is an absolute God send.  Not only can you kill 4 birds with one stone, the A8’s overcharging protecting will switch off each device once it’s at 100%. This can have a really positive effect on the longevity of its battery life.

Finally, it’s worth mentioning the impressive standby time of the Zendure A8 power bank. It’s said to retain 95% of it’s charge over a period of 6 months. This means even if you don’t use a portable power supply that often, it’s good to go when you do.

Specifications
  • Capacity – 26,800mAh (10+ phone charges)
  • Input – 5V 1.5A  USB (with charge through)
  • Output – 4 – Each up to 2.1A (Max 6.1A)
  • Standby – 95% retention after 6 months
  • Safety – advanced overcharge protection

Zendure A8 QC 3.0 Power Bank – Verdict

The Zendure A8 is an absolute beast, it’s the Incredible Hulk of external batteries. Intelligent on the inside and virtually indestructible on the outside.  Much like the Hulk, it’s not particularly small or light, but if that’s what you’re looking for check out the Zendure A2 – the Eric Banner version.

The A8 is ideal for anyone less concerned with squeezing a portable phone charger into a tiny purse or pocket.  It’s thick, it’s meaty and it’s as tough as nails. When it comes to high capacity power banks the Zendure A8 is in a league of its own and worth every penny.

  1. Zendure A8 QC is a sophisticated High quality power supply. It’s charging circuit and voltage outputting is really number one scientific. With a little money we can purchase a zero worry power bank

  2. Hi Simon,

Thank you for the detailed review of the A8. I’d like to let you know that we’ve upgraded the A8 to A8 QC3.0. The one you had was actually the old version. That’s why the total output was only 3.1A. With the upgraded new A8 QC3.0, the Quick Charge output port is capable of delivering up to 18W (5V/3A, 9V/2A, 12V/1.5A), and the other three ports still can output 3.1A (15.5W). In total, the max output is 33.5W (or 6.1A in 5V), making it the highest output external batteries in the market.

In addition, the input also supports Quick Charge, which means it can be charged at up to 18W ( (5V/3A, 9V/2A, 12V/1.5A) if you use a Quick Charge 2.0/3.0 charger, again best in the industry.

I’ll be grateful if you could update this article. I’ll be happy to send you a new A8 QC for review if you like.

    Thank you!

    Bryan from Zendure

  3. I have had the Zendure A2 power bank for about a year now, just decided to treat myself to the Zendure A8, got a long trip coming up, hope its as good as the A2

    • Hi Pepper, You timed that well, the Zendure A8 has had stock issues for the last couple of months, it’s only just become available again. You won’t be disappointed, it’s an absolute beast of a power bank 🙂

  4. I bought the Zendure A8 power bank to take on a snowboarding trip, I charged it before I left and managed to keep my phone and my tablet fully charged for the whole 7 days, couldn’t ask for more!

    • Hi Ellie, I had a week away with in the summer and took the Zendure A8 power bank with me, it almost lasted the entire duration of the trip. Highly impressive considering it charged 2 phones, a bluetooth speaker and an iPad.

  5. Nice review, this looks like a solid high capacity power bank, just what I’ve been looking for, they should make this thing water resistant, as I’m often in bad weather. It’s not a problem as all my camera equipment is kept in dry bags anyway, but it would be a great feature none the less.

    • Thanks for the comment, There is no doubt that the Zendure A8 is the most durable high capacity power bank money can buy. There are very few power banks that are actually fully water resistant, especially ones over 20000mAh. I have reviewed one by a company called EasyAcc – here is the link to the full review. I tested it by dropping it into a stream and leaving it there for 30 minutes. It’s got a capacity of 9000mAh, so not as much as the Zendure A8, but if you are in a real need for a fully waterproof option, it’s worth taking a look.

  6. Thanks for the review, been looking for a high capacity power bank, I was undecided if to get this or the EasyAcc 2000mAh with dual inputs for fast charging. I think the Zendure A8 with it’s pass-through technology will be more useful to me and worth paying a little extra for.

    • You’re welcome! You have good taste, not sure if you’ve seen my list of the top high capacity power banks with over 20000mAh’s? The Zendure A8 is my number one favourite with the EasyAcc Monster in second place! I did find another Power Bank with Pass-through charging too, it’s called the LimeFuel Blast (third on the list)
